Dhaka, Aug 19 (V7N) – Youth and Sports Secretary Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam has said that the cost of constructing mini stadiums at the upazila level has increased significantly due to logical and structural reasons.
Speaking at a press conference at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon, Mahbub-ul-Alam explained that the cost of building each mini stadium has risen from Tk 53 lakh to Tk 14 crore. The increase is attributed to changes in infrastructure, design, land acquisition, and construction plans.
“The area of the current stadiums has been expanded and upgraded several times compared to the earlier plan, making them far better than before,” he said.
He added that following the 2022 rate schedule instead of the 2018 Public Works Department schedule, as well as incorporating new elements like land acquisition, contributed to the cost escalation.
