Dhaka, July 21, (V7N) – The 16th day of the second phase of dialogue between political parties and the National Consensus Commission is underway at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital.

The meeting began on Sunday morning, with discussions centered around the Prime Minister’s simultaneous holding of multiple positions and its implications for state governance.

At the opening session, Dr. Ali Riaz, Vice-Chairman of the Commission, stated that the commission has so far proposed several reforms, and consensus has been reached on at least eight issues. He noted that any remaining disagreements will be recorded in the national charter.

Dr. Riaz further added, “A decision must be reached in consultation with the upper house by tomorrow or the day after. However, the commission believes that there is general consensus among all parties regarding the establishment of a caretaker government system.”

The ongoing dialogue is seen as a crucial step toward achieving a broad-based political agreement ahead of future electoral reforms.
