Dhaka, Sep 09 (V7N) – Abidul Islam Khan, Vice President (VP) candidate of the Chhatra Dal panel in the ongoing Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections, has dismissed recent allegations against his party as a deliberate attempt to create controversy.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday afternoon, Abidul urged students to counter what he described as a conspiracy by participating actively in the elections. He emphasized that Chhatra Dal is adhering to the election code of conduct.
Voting, which began at 8 am, will continue until 4 pm, with provisions allowing students in line by the deadline to cast their ballots afterward. Reports from polling centers indicate a festive atmosphere, with long queues of students participating enthusiastically across the campus.
This year, 39,775 students are eligible to vote, including 20,873 male and 18,902 female voters. A total of 471 candidates are contesting for 28 DUCSU posts, with voting being conducted simultaneously in 810 booths across 8 centers.
