Dhaka, Sep 09 (V7N) – Abidul Islam Khan, Vice President (VP) candidate from the Chhatra Dal panel in the ongoing Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections, has been accused of violating electoral rules by entering polling stations without authorization.
At around 8:30 am, Abidul entered the section of the Physical Education Center where students of Jagannath Hall were casting their votes. Shortly before 9 am, he was again seen in front of the same polling station.
When asked, Abidul rejected the allegations, saying his entry was lawful. “I entered with the permission of the returning officer,” he told reporters.
Later, at around 10 am, he appeared near the Curzon Hall polling station and addressed journalists. “I want to celebrate the vote. I don’t want to complain,” he said.
Meanwhile, voting across the campus has been continuing in a festive but tightly controlled atmosphere. Polling is being conducted in 810 booths across eight centers from 8 am to 4 pm, with provisions allowing students who are in line before the deadline to cast their ballots afterward. Strict security measures, including police and BGB deployment, remain in place at all entrances of the university.
