Dhaka, Aug 18 (V7N) – As part of the ongoing nomination distribution for the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election, candidates nominated by Bangladesh Islami Chatra Shibir's Dhaka University unit collected their nomination forms on Monday from the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building on campus.

The DUCSU election, long awaited after years of inactivity, has re-energized student political activities across the university. Several student bodies, including those aligned with national political parties as well as independent platforms, have started the nomination process, signaling active participation in the upcoming vote.

Representatives of Islami Chatra Shibir, a student wing associated with Jamaat-e-Islami, arrived on campus in a coordinated group to officially collect the forms required for candidacy. The group’s Dhaka University chapter confirmed that their candidates will be contesting for various key positions, including Vice President, General Secretary, and other posts within the union.

The DUCSU election is considered a crucial event in student politics in Bangladesh, offering an opportunity for future leaders to emerge and influence campus governance and national discourse. Although the organization has faced controversies in recent years, the electoral process is expected to proceed under strict oversight to ensure a fair and safe environment.

Election officials have confirmed that nomination form distribution will continue as per the announced schedule. Candidates are expected to submit their forms by the designated deadline, following which scrutiny and campaigning will begin.

No major disruptions were reported during today’s nomination collection, and the process remained orderly.

Further announcements regarding the official election date, campaigning guidelines, and code of conduct are expected to be made by the DUCSU election commission in the coming days.
