Tangail, July 9 (V7N) – Following the directives of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku’s team initiated a tree plantation campaign at Santosh Jahnabi High School in Tangail.
On Tuesday, July 8, BNP organized a significant tree plantation program in the Santosh Jahnabi High School area of Tangail. This initiative, led by Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, was part of the party’s ongoing efforts to preserve the environment and raise awareness about the vital role trees play in maintaining ecological balance.
During the event, free saplings of fruit-bearing and timber trees were distributed to students, teachers, and local residents. The program was presided over by the headmaster of the school, Md. Mia Chan. Former district BNP General Secretary Mahmoodul Haque Shanu attended as the chief guest, while several prominent leaders were present as special guests, including Engineer Shahadat Al Harun from the Santosh Maulana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Senior Joint Secretary of the District BNP Azim Uddin Biplo, Senior Joint Secretary of Tangail Thana BNP Advocate Shamim Al Mamun, and Information and Technology Secretary of Tangail Thana BNP Mukhtar Hasan.
The leaders emphasized the importance of trees in preserving the environment, highlighting their role in providing oxygen and offering medicinal benefits that contribute to health and ecological well-being. They further assured that the tree plantation drive would continue in schools, colleges, and other areas across the country in alignment with the party’s broader environmental agenda.
The event saw active participation from BNP leaders and activists, including members of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal. The leaders encouraged the public to take part in environmental conservation efforts and pledged to sustain this tree plantation initiative throughout the country to ensure a healthier environment for future generations.
