Narayanganj, June 26 (V7N) – Former councillor Hannan Sarkar (60) has been arrested in connection with the deaths of two BNP activists, killed during a violent clash over local dominance in Bandar upazila. His sons Junayed (26) and Fardin (22), along with close aide Babu Shikdar alias "Juari Babu" (40), were also detained early Wednesday from Tongi in Gazipur.

The violence erupted on June 21 between rival BNP factions near the local rail station, resulting in the fatal stabbing of Abdul Quddus (70), a supporter of ex-councillor Abul Kawser Asha. Hours later, Mehedi Hasan (35), suspected in Quddus's killing, was himself murdered in apparent retaliation.

Two murder cases have been filed, naming at least 44 individuals, including Sarkar. The clashes stemmed from a long-standing turf war over control of the Bandar railway area and adjacent neighborhoods.

Bandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Liakat Ali confirmed the arrests and said investigations are ongoing.
