Dhaka, Sep 14 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in six divisions, including Dhaka, over the next 72 hours under the influence of the active southwest monsoon.

According to the BMD’s forecast issued Sunday morning, rainfall ranging from 44–88 mm in 24 hours (heavy) to over 88 mm in 24 hours (very heavy) is expected in parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions.

The department also cautioned that landslides may occur in the hilly areas of Chittagong division due to intense downpours. In addition, temporary waterlogging is likely in Dhaka and Chittagong metropolitan areas if heavy rainfall persists.

Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
