Dhaka, Dec 13 (V7N) – A fire broke out early Saturday morning at a multi-storey building in Babubazar, Keraniganj. Fire service authorities deployed twelve units to control the blaze, which is reported at the ground floor of the 12-storey building named Jamela Tower.
According to Inspector Anwarul Islam of the Fire Service Media Cell, the fire was reported at 5:37 a.m., and fire teams from Keraniganj, Sadarghat, and Siddiq Bazar fire stations arrived at the scene by 5:45 a.m. to begin fire containment operations.
Twelve fire service units are currently working on controlling the fire. Inspector Islam stated that the cause of the fire is not yet confirmed, and no casualties have been reported so far. Firefighters continue their efforts amid heavy smoke and challenging conditions.
Local authorities have urged residents in the surrounding area to stay clear and follow safety precautions while the fire service works to bring the situation under control. Further details about the cause and extent of damages will be released after the incident is fully assessed.
The building houses multiple commercial establishments, raising concerns about potential property loss and the risk to nearby structures if the fire spreads.
