Kathalia, Jhalakathi, May 04 (V7N) – A human chain and protest meeting were held in Kathalia, Jhalakathi, demanding the withdrawal of what they allege are false harassment cases filed against eight individuals, including Anwar Hossain Sagar, the joint general secretary of the upazila BNP.

The demonstration took place in front of the Chingrakhali Miyaji Darbar Sharif on Sunday, May 4th, at 10 am, organized by the Chingrakhali Miyaji Darbar Sharif.

Following the human chain, a protest meeting was held where speakers, including Anwar Hossain Sagar, Maulana Muniruzzaman Miyaji (President of Miyaji Darbar Sharif), and Maulana Md. Ruhul Amin (Principal of Chingrakhali Senior Madrasa), addressed the gathering.

The speakers alleged that Abdul Jalil Miyaji, an associate of Awami League ally Shahjahan Omar and an accused in a July murder case, is using false cases to harass Maulana Muniruzzaman, Anwar Hossain Sagar, and other officials of the Darbar Sharif.

Anwar Hossain Sagar, the Upazila BNP Joint General Secretary, expressed outrage, stating that no vandalism occurred at the Miyaji Darbar Sharif and that the cases were filed with malicious intent.

The complaint alleges that on January 31st, 20-25 individuals led by Anwar Hossain Sagar damaged the boundary wall of the Darbar Sharif. However, a case was filed with the police station on April 27th, three months after the alleged incident, naming eight individuals, including Sagar.

Police arrested three individuals, including Anwar Hossain Sagar, from Battala Bazar on Thursday evening. They were subsequently released on bail by the court the following day.
