Dhaka, May 04 (V7N) – Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Grigorievich Khojin has asked the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to find out when the next national elections will be held in the country, according to BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.
The ambassador raised the question during a courtesy meeting with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at the BNP Chairperson’s Political Office in Gulshan around 11:00 AM on Sunday (May 4).
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Amir Khosru said the Russian envoy visited to strengthen diplomatic relations and discuss matters of bilateral interest, including investment opportunities. “They are quite interested in investing in Bangladesh. Discussions were held on how to simplify the complexities in trade and economic relations,” he said.
Also present at the meeting were Shama Obaid, BNP Organizing Secretary and member of the Chairperson’s Special Assistant Advisory Committee.
Party officials indicated that while the focus remained on mutual cooperation, the current political situation in Bangladesh, including electoral developments, also featured in the discussions.
