PABNA, Nov 06 (V7N) – The National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate has fined and issued a warning to the popular restaurant “Puran Dhakar Nanna Biryani House” in Pabna after discovering it was reusing leftover meat stored with raw meat in the freezer to serve customers again.
The operation took place on Wednesday afternoon at the restaurant located near A.R. Corner on Abdul Hamid Road in Pabna town. The drive was led by Mahmud Hasan Rony, Assistant Director of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate in Pabna.
During the raid, officials found cooked and discarded meat stored alongside raw meat in the same freezer for reuse in future meals. The restaurant was fined Tk 20,000 for this violation and officially warned that it would face permanent closure if the practice continues.
In a separate incident, the “One Stop Grocery Shop” near A.R. Corner was fined Tk 5,000 for using artificial color in lentils.
The operation was conducted with the assistance of the district Ansar battalion and other relevant authorities. Assistant Director Mahmud Hasan Rony stated that similar drives will continue across the district to protect public health and ensure food safety.
He emphasized that maintaining hygiene and quality in food preparation is a legal and moral responsibility for all restaurants, adding that consumer protection drives will remain ongoing in the interest of public welfare.
