Bagerhat, Oct 30 (V7N) – Police recovered an unconscious man from beneath the Muniganj Bridge in Bagerhat town on Thursday morning, who was later identified as businessman Ibrahim Sheikh, 60. He was taken to a local hospital where doctors pronounced him dead around 10:30 a.m.
Local residents first noticed Ibrahim lying under the bridge and informed police, who promptly arrived and rescued him. Officers reported visible injuries on his leg. At the time of recovery, he was wearing a white panjabi and pajama, along with black shoes and socks.
The deceased was the son of Babur Ali Sheikh from Nonadangha area of Bagerhat town. He ran a business near Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and lived in the capital with his family. However, he occasionally stayed at his newly built residence in Bagerhat. According to local sources, Ibrahim had recently come from Dhaka to sell his property in the Kandapara area.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmud-ul-Hasan of Bagerhat Model Police Station said an unnatural death case has been filed, and the body has been sent for autopsy. “The inquest has been completed, and the post-mortem report will reveal the actual cause of death,” he said, adding that no formal complaint has yet been filed by the victim’s family.
