Pabna, Oct 26 (V7N) — Idris Ali Biswas, a distinguished businessman, educator, and social worker from Pabna, passed away on Saturday at 6:00 a.m. while receiving treatment at LabAid Hospital in Dhaka ("Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un"). He was 79 years old.
 
Idris Ali Biswas, son of the late Yusuf Ali Biswas of Gopalpur Mahalla, was an advisor to the Pabna District unit of the Awami League. He is survived by two sons. His funeral prayer will be held on Sunday after Zuhr at the Pabna Zila School ground, followed by burial at Arifpur Sadar Graveyard, according to family sources.
 
Born in 1946, Biswas received his early education at Pabna Zila School up to sixth grade and later attended Faujdarhat Cadet College, where he completed his HSC. He earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geography from Dhaka University.
 
Biswas began his career as an officer at the Agriculture Bank before taking responsibility for the family business. Through integrity, dedication, and foresight, he became a respected figure in Pabna as a successful entrepreneur, educationist, and philanthropist.
 
He founded Saleha Khatun Ideal School and College, which continues to stand as a testament to his commitment to education and humanitarian values. Throughout his life, he remained dedicated to community development, educational advancement, and social welfare.
 
During his career, he held several significant positions, including former President of the Pabna Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vice-President of Pabna Rifles Club, Vice-President of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Pabna Unit, President of the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) Pabna Unit, President of the Pabna Chaalkal Owners’ Association, Principal of Ideal Women’s College Pabna, and President of the Rotary Club of Evergreen Pabna.
 
His wisdom, leadership, and humanitarian values earned him recognition as an inspiring personality in Pabna. His death has cast a shadow of grief across the district, with tributes pouring in from the business, education, and social sectors.
