Rangamati, Oct 30 (V7N) – Police have arrested Salauddin, owner of Cosmos Restaurant and Maer Doa Nursery, over allegations of sexually assaulting a young woman. The arrest took place on Thursday night near the Rángamati Court Building, conducted by a team from Kotwali Police Station.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Sahed Uddin confirmed that the arrest followed a written complaint lodged by the victim. According to the complaint, Salauddin invited the woman to his home under the pretext of a job opportunity around 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. The victim alleged that he detained her until 5:00 p.m. and sexually assaulted her during that period.

After being released, the woman filed a formal complaint at Kotwali Police Station the same evening. Following standard procedures, the police immediately launched an operation and arrested Salauddin.

Reliable sources at the Kotwali Police Station stated that Salauddin had previously been arrested on July 1 following a complaint from a college student, who accused him of making sexual proposals. Audio evidence of the proposal is reportedly in possession of the victim.

Police are also aware of multiple allegations against Salauddin, including sexual harassment and making inappropriate propositions to women under the pretext of employment. Authorities have confirmed that legal proceedings are ongoing, and further investigation is underway.

The case has drawn attention to concerns over workplace sexual harassment and the abuse of power by local business owners in the region.
