Dhaka, Mar 2 (V7N) — A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former Dhaka-4 lawmaker and ex-Whip Sanjida Khanam and former Education and ICT Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan amid ongoing corruption investigations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz issued the order on Sunday following two separate petitions filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

In its application, the ACC stated that an inquiry officer has been appointed to investigate allegations that Sanjida Khanam amassed wealth beyond known sources of income. The matter remains under active investigation.

In a separate petition, the commission alleged that Nazrul Islam Khan is being investigated over accusations of financial irregularities, including the appointment of unqualified individuals at Uddeepan NGO, embezzlement of large sums, money laundering abroad, bribery, and transfer-related corruption to acquire illicit assets.

According to the ACC, credible information suggests the accused individuals may attempt to flee the country. The travel restrictions were sought to ensure an unhindered and fair investigation.
