Dhaka, Nov 14 (V7N) - The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expressed gratitude to the Chief Adviser of the interim government for reaffirming the announcement of the national parliamentary elections in the first half of February and for declaring a public referendum on the election day.
 
The appreciation was conveyed during a meeting of BNP’s National Standing Committee on Thursday night, chaired by acting party chairman Tarique Rahman, who participated virtually from London.
 
Following the meeting, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir addressed a press conference at the party’s political office in Gulshan, stating that the party expressed its thanks to the Chief Adviser for his public announcement regarding the parliamentary elections and the referendum.
 
He added that the meeting also called upon the government and the Election Commission to organize a public referendum to obtain the people’s approval of the July National Charter, signed on October 17 based on mutual consensus, and to promptly prepare for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
 
Members of the BNP Standing Committee present at the press briefing included Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Selima Rahman, Salauddin Ahmed, AZM Zahid Hossain, and Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.
