Chattogram, July 20 (V7N) – The Chattogram Metropolitan unit of Jatiotabadi Chatra Dal (JCD) organized a protest procession and rally on Saturday night condemning alleged derogatory remarks made by NCP Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari against BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed.
The procession began around 11:30 p.m. from Wasa Mor and concluded at Gate No. 2, passing through CDA Avenue. Following the rally, Chatra Dal leaders demanded a formal apology from Nasiruddin Patwari and rejection of his statements. They warned of active resistance against the NCP if the apology is not issued.
Speakers at the rally included Chatra Dal city convener Saiful Alam and member secretary Shariful Islam Tuhin. They criticized Patwari’s comments and stated that any divisive remarks in the month of July—marked by the sacrifices of Chatra Dal activists—would not be tolerated.
Referring to July as a symbolic month for student activists, the leaders highlighted that 142 Chatra Dal members were martyred, many were injured, and others were subjected to enforced disappearances and legal persecution.
Earlier the same day, BNP and Chatra Dal activists dismantled a stage set up for an NCP rally in Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar. The rally was organized near Janata Shopping Center, and the stage was built on a truck. The disruption followed Patwari’s remarks at a public event where he allegedly likened Salahuddin Ahmed to a local "godfather," prompting immediate backlash from BNP members.
