Tangail, July 20 (V7N) — Sultan Salauddin Tuku, the central publicity secretary of BNP, addressed Jamaat-e-Islami during a human chain protest at Tangail Press Club. The protest was organized by the Nationalist Social Cultural Group to condemn Jamaat’s derogatory remarks against Shaheed Ziaur Rahman and BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman.

Tuku stated, “Talking alone will not help. When you were allied with BNP, you had many responsibilities, but BNP accepted them.” He further added, “Those who deprived people of their rights and established fascism were collectively defeated under Tarique Rahman’s leadership. If you try to obstruct the people's rights again, you will face the same fate.”

He emphasized BNP’s democratic credentials, saying, “People often say BNP is a democratic party, with contributions to the Liberation War and led by the nation’s independence announcers. Yet, why did BNP align with Jamaat and Rajakars? For democracy’s sake, Tarique Rahman has declared, ‘Not Delhi, not Pindi, not any other country, but Bangladesh comes first.’ We will unite all people living on this land to build the nation.”

Tuku also announced Tarique Rahman’s commitment to forming a national government inclusive of all those involved in the anti-fascist movement.

Other speakers at the event included BNP central co-cultural secretary Saidur Rahman Sai and former district BNP member secretary Mahmudul Haque Sanu.
