Gopalganj, July 20, (V7N) – The district administration of Gopalganj has imposed Section 144 from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM today (Sunday) following recent unrest and the imposition of curfew across the country.

Under this restriction, all forms of meetings, processions, and public gatherings are prohibited during the specified hours. However, students, government offices, and emergency services have been exempted from the ban. Law enforcement personnel have been deployed in large numbers, and security measures have been tightened throughout the city.

Authorities reported that the situation in the district remains normal at present.

This development follows Wednesday’s violent incident in the Gopalganj Municipal Park area, where the convoy of National Citizens Party (NCP) leaders was attacked as they were returning from a political rally. The district quickly descended into chaos, prompting the imposition of Section 144 and, subsequently, a 22-hour curfew.

While the curfew was relaxed yesterday, officials say the imposition of Section 144 remains necessary to maintain law and order as tensions linger.
